Cardinals Super Bowl 2009
The Arizona Cardinals will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009. No misprint, the Cardinals really are in the Super Bowl for the very first time in the history of the franchise. Led by quarterback Kurt Warner, the team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 32 to 25 in the NFC Championship game to advance to The Big Game. Our opponent will be the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers led by Ben Roethlisberger and a ferocious defensive unit..
Cardinal fans may be wondering about these strange feelings of non-depression or un-sadness that they may be feeling. In fact, these feelings have names. Other fans know them as elation and happiness and it turns out that they may actually be associated with Cardinals postseason football. After all, despite being the oldest professional football franchise, the teams lone NFL Championship came way back in 1947. With the team winning only 4 playoff games since then, (three of them in their current run to the 2009 Super Bowl) fans have endured on of the great droughts in NFL football history. We fans can be forgiven for our lack of experience in interpreting theses new feelings. A Cardinals Super Bowl Appearance is truly uncharted waters. So what is a diehard Arizona Cardinals Fan to do, once the shock wears off? First thing to do is gear up! I’m going to start by grabbing me a cool new Kurt Warner jersey
Ok, now here is a question with which we have never been confronted with and forced to contemplate; can our football team actually win the Super Bowl? Let’s face it, the Steelers looked supremely strong and confident in their convincing win over the Baltimore Ravens. On the other hand, the Cardinals have looked very solid and impressive in the postseason and the Kurt Warner to Larry Fitzgerald combination looks to be unstoppable at times. While I’m sure the Vegas line will favor the Steelers, there is no doubt in my mind that this game is a pick, and I pick the Arizona Cardinals to win Super Bowl 43. Wow, I loved writing that last line.
One thing many people do not realize is that Kurt Warner is a future Hall of Fame quarterback. He has loads of experience, undeniable talent, and a history of playing well important games. Most importantly, he has a powerful drive to win which he has imparted to his team. In other words, he is a leader, and leaders win football games. So, bottom line is, expect a close, well played game from both teams and some explosive offense from both sides. My Prediction: The Arizona Cardinal win the 2009 Super Bowl 28-24. Get Your Cardinals logo wear here or even a Ben Roethlisberger Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey, if you must.
